IAI: Global primary Al output tops 6 million t in November

Last month's on-month decline reversed October's 3.6% increase, Mysteel Global noted. On a daily basis, global output averaged 202,900 tonnes in November, dipping by 0.05% from the previous month, Mysteel Global's calculations using the IAI data showed.

China stayed firmly at the top of the global ranking of primary aluminum producing countries last month, with its output estimated at 3.65 million tonnes, down 3.7% from the previous month but up 1.1% from a year earlier, the IAI data revealed.

The IAI estimate was 145,000 tonnes lower than figures released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). According to the NBS, the country's primary aluminum production rose 2.5% on year but slipped 0.2% on month to 3.79 million tonnes in November. 

Europe (including Russia) ranked second globally, producing 584,000 tonnes last month, down 1% from a year earlier. The five Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries – Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – ranked third, with combined output of 508,000 tonnes, down 2.7% on year.

During January-November 2025, total global primary aluminum production reached 67.49 million tonnes, rising by 1.1% from the same period in 2024, according to the IAI.
