MEE: China's carbon market sees 24% increase in 2025 quota trading

China's national carbon emission quota trading totalled 235 million tonnes throughout 2025, growing by about 24% from the previous year, according to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE).
This marked growth is mainly attributed to the inclusion of three emission-intensive sectors of steel, cement and aluminium in the trading system last March, Mysteel Global learned.
