On the evening of February 2, Lihuayi Weiyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. announced that its 250,000-tonne/year electrolyte solvent project has recently completed the entire production process and successfully produced qualified products.
Looking back at the project timeline, on November 23, 2022, Weiyuan announced plans to invest Yuan 2.16 billion in constructing the 250,000-tonne/year electrolyte solvent project. The official commencement of production signifies that the project has finally achieved mass production after three years, marking a significant milestone in Weiyuan's strategic expansion in the new energy materials sector.
According to the plan, upon completion and operation, the project is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 20,000 tonnes of electronic-grade propylene carbonate (PC), 50,000 tonnes of dimethyl carbonate (DMC), 150,400 tonnes of ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), and 29,400 tonnes of diethyl carbonate (DEC). Additionally, it will yield 178,800 tonnes of propylene glycol and 100,000 tonnes of food-grade carbon dioxide as by-products. The project is projected to generate an average annual operating revenue of Yuan 3.588 billion and a profit of Yuan 268 million.
