On February 2, the Ecology and Environment Bureau of Zaozhuang City announced that the environmental impact assessment documents for the Waste Lithium Battery Recycling and Comprehensive Utilization Project, invested and constructed by Tengzhou Sunwoda Renewable Resources Co., Ltd., have been approved. The company was established on May 31, 2024, as a subsidiary of Sunwoda.
The newly approved battery recycling project involves a total investment of Yuan 4.15 billion, covering an area of approximately 86,000 square meters. Upon reaching full production capacity, it will annually recycle and process 10,000 tonnes of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, 10,000 tonnes of ternary battery packs, 10,100 tonnes of LFP cells (10% with electrolyte, 90% without), 2,800 tonnes of ternary cells, 4,000 tonnes of ternary cathode electrode sheets, and 1,600 tonmes of ternary anode electrode sheets.
Currently, Sunwoda has already established projects in Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province, including power battery projects and energy storage projects. Additionally, the company has invested in the construction of energy storage factories and lithium battery recycling projects. The newly established Xinbang New Energy has further expanded its reach into the sales of photovoltaic equipment and the field of intelligent power transmission and distribution. In Shandong, Sunwoda has achieved a full-chain layout encompassing manufacturing-recycling-remanufacturing.
