On February 9, the Fuzhou Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau announced its intent to approve the environmental impact assessment documents for the Power Battery Recycling and Comprehensive Utilization Project of Fujian Desheng New Building Materials Co., Ltd. The basic details of the environmental impact assessment documents under review have been made public for consultation.
It is reported that the project is located in the Jingang Industrial Zone of the Luoyuan Bay Economic Development Zone. Within the existing plant area, the project will establish a new production line for the recycling and comprehensive utilization of ternary scrap (lithium-ion batteries). The main construction will include raw material workshops, cascade utilization workshops, dismantling and crushing workshops, extraction and filtration workshops, finished product workshops, and public auxiliary facilities.
Upon completion, the project will have an annual capacity to recycle and process 40,000 tonnes of used power batteries. This includes the annual cascade utilization of 12,000 tonnes of batteries and the annual production of 30,000 tonnes of battery raw materials (such as copper powder, aluminum powder, electrolytic nickel, high-purity nickel sulfate solution, electrolytic cobalt, high-purity cobalt sulfate solution, crude manganese carbonate, high-purity lithium sulfate solution, and sponge copper, among others).
