The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has issued the 2026 Nickel Work Plan and Budget (RKAB). Tri Winarno, Director General of Minerals and Coal at ESDM, revealed that the approved nickel ore production quota is between 260 million and 270 million tonnes.
On February 10, 2026, Tri addressed the media at the Director General of Minerals and Coal building in Jakarta: "We have announced the RKAB nickel production target today, which is 260-270 million tonnes." The approved nickel mining quota is largely consistent with the scale previously disclosed by the Indonesian Nickel Miners Association (APNI).
