DoC: U.S. 2025 steel imports sink despite Dec spike from China

The United States witnessed a significant decline in steel imports throughout 2025, with full-year figures showing a steep drop in both volume and value, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau under the Department of Commerce (DoC).
The U.S. imported a total of 22.93 million tonnes of steel last year. This represents a decrease of 3.29 million tonnes, or 13%, compared to 2024, according to Mysteel's calculation based on the DoC statistics. The value of these imports followed a similar trend, falling by approximately 21% on
