Sherritt International Corporation recently released its fourth-quarter report for 2025, showing refined nickel (nickel briquettes) production of 7,632 tonnes, an increase of 57.30% compared to the previous quarter but a decrease of 0.96% year-on-year. Continued lower-than-expected production of mixed sulphides at the Moa joint venture impacted feedstock availability at the refinery during the quarter. However, by drawing on accumulated mixed sulphide precipitate inventories from the third quarter of 2025, Sherritt's share of refined nickel production declined only slightly compared to the same period last year. Given the high payabilities in the intermediate product market, Sherritt did not purchase third-party feedstock during the quarter.
According to the report, Sherritt's 2026 production guidance for refined nickel is 26,000 to 28,000 tonnes (on a 100% basis), and for refined cobalt, 2,750 to 2,850 tonnes (on a 100% basis). Nickel production is expected to increase compared to 2025 due to anticipated growth in mixed sulphides output. As operational improvement initiatives gradually take effect, mixed sulphides production is projected to reach 30,000 to 32,000 metric tons (on a 100% basis, containing nickel and cobalt metal), with the production focus concentrated in the second half of the year.
