The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is accelerating its approval process, aiming to finalize all 2026 Work Plans and Budgets (RKAB) for mineral and coal mining companies by the end of March 2026.
Tri Winarno, Director General of Minerals and Coal, stated in a recent interview in Jakarta that the ministry is actively advancing the review process to meet the deadline. He revealed that as of mid-March, the government had approved nearly 400 million tons of coal RKAB and over 100 million tons of nickel RKAB for 2026.
Tri noted that the current priority is to continue processing approvals to ensure the overall timeline stays on track. Meanwhile, the transition to a new application submission system has presented certain technical challenges, particularly regarding data upload compatibility, which requires ongoing adjustments. He explained that if system integration is not yet active, relevant features will not function properly, which impairs submission efficiency.
