On March 31, Hunan Yonshan Lithium Co., Ltd. officially commenced construction of its 22,000-tonne-per-year high-purity lithium salt project in the Tongguan Industrial Zone of Wangcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone.
Yonshan Lithium represents the first lithium salt industrial project in Hunan Province, successfully helping establish a closed-loop full industrial chain encompassing lithium salt-precursors-cathode and anode materials-batteries in Hunan Province. The project is being developed in three phases.
Phase I commenced production in the first half of 2022, forming an annual lithium salt production capacity of 25,000 tonnes; Phase II was fully commissioned in October 2024, raising the total capacity to 45,000 tonnes per year. To date, the company has achieved a cumulative output value of Yuan 13.1 billion, establishing itself as a key pillar in the development of Hunan's advanced energy storage materials industry.
The newly initiated 22,000-tonne-per-year high-purity lithium salt project involves a total planned investment of Yuan 778 million and will include the construction of a new high-purity lithium salt production line. Upon full completion and operation, Yonshan Lithium's total production capacity in Hunan is expected to exceed 60,000 tonnes per year. It is understood that the company's cumulative investment in the park is projected to surpass Yuan 5 billion, providing strong support for extending, supplementing, and strengthening the advanced energy storage materials industry chain in Changsha.
