On April 13, the second phase of the Yichang Cornex Science and Technology Park project in Longquan Town, Yiling District, was fully topped out. It is scheduled to be fully commissioned on September 26 this year. Upon completion, the park will achieve a total production capacity of 120 GWh, ranking among the world's largest single-site lithium battery manufacturing bases, with an estimated annual output value exceeding Yuan 22 billion after reaching full capacity.
According to the project plan, it occupies a planned area of 3 square kilometers, with 2 square kilometers already constructed. The project primarily focuses on the R&D and production of a new generation of fast-charging power batteries, 588 Ah large-scale energy storage batteries, and modular PACK systems. It serves as the core project of Cornex New Energy's strategy to build a hundred-billion-level industrial cluster.
According to previously news, the total investment in the Cornex New Energy (Yichang) Lithium Battery Industrial Park project is Yuan 60 billion, with a planned total capacity of 150 GWh. It is currently the largest single-investment manufacturing project attracted by the city of Yichang. The project is being developed in four phases. The first phase, with a designed capacity of 40 GWh, was commissioned on August 28, 2023.
According to Cornex New Energy's plan, the company intends to establish four major production bases, with capacity under construction exceeding 400 GWh and total planned capacity exceeding 500 GWh. Currently, all four of its production bases are located in Hubei Province, in Xiaogan, Yichang, Wuhan, and Xiangyang.
