Last week, lithium battery scrap prices shifted from weak to strong, with market transactions concentrated on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) scrap. Due to weakening cobalt salt prices and sluggish downstream demand, wet-process refiners reduced their purchasing demand for battery scraps. At present, wet-process production lines were primarily consuming existing inventory. The payables for high-cobalt scrap metal salts declined, and trader inventories have recently been in an accumulation phase. Demand for LFP scrap was strong this week. As LFP cathode scrap continues to flow toward the recycling sector, the processing of raw materials by black mass producers has been affected, with output consisting mainly of LFP battery powder.
