US seeks involvement in Guyana's bauxite and mining industry

The United States is exploring opportunities in Guyana’s bauxite sector. It is also interested in surveying mining areas to identify additional mineral resources, according to the US Under Secretary of Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg.

Helberg met with Irfaan Ali and other government officials during a visit to Guyana on Wednesday. Following the meeting, he said discussions included possible US participation in the country's bauxite mining industry. He said talks also focused on surveying lands where large mineral reserves may exist, but where detailed
