In April, nickel ore imports from the Philippines to China increased by 143.31% month-on-month to 3,389,876 tonnes, according to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC). Meanwhile, the production of MHP in Indonesia dropped by 18.32% MoM to 27,200 tonnes in April, and nickel matte production dropped by 0.99% MoM to 39,900 tonnes.In the NPI sector, low-grade nickel pig iron (NPI) production increased 4.86% MoM to 5,480 tonnes, while high-grade NPI production increased 9.94% to 18,890 tonnes in April, based on the data from Mysteel.China's nickel sulfate production totaled 254,185 tonnes in April, or 55,921 tonnes in Ni. content in April, down 3.05% month on month (MoM) according to Mysteel survey. The production comprised 0% nickel briquette/powder, 54.21% MHP, 36.39% high-grade nickel matte, 7.97% secondary nickel by raw material, and 1.43% NPI. In addition, the production of ternary precursors dropped 0.26% to 97,500 tonnes.
