On May 26, CALB announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Ninebot in Changzhou City. According to the announcement, the two parties will conduct in-depth collaboration on product innovation, market expansion, and ecosystem development related to high-performance lithium batteries in the short-distance mobility sector. The partnership aims to drive the upgrade of electric two-wheelers toward ultimate safety, ultra-long range, ultra-fast charging, extended cycle life, and all-weather reliability.
CALB stated that the signing of this strategic cooperation agreement marks the establishment of a long-term, stable, and priority-based partnership between the two companies. They will jointly explore a new cooperation model centered on user value and driven by technological innovation, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the electric two-wheeler industry.
Data shows that in 2025, global shipments of electric two-wheelers (including e-bikes) reached approximately 78 million units, up 11.43% from 70 million units in 2024. From the perspective of the battery market for electric two-wheelers, based on an average electricity consumption of 1 kWh per vehicle (including electric motorcycles), 78 million vehicles correspond to approximately 78 GWh. This means that in 2025, the electric two-wheeler market will utilize at least 78 GWh of batteries. Looking at future demand, electric two-wheelers are typically replaced every three to five years due to natural attrition. This indicates that the market demand for electric two-wheelers, and consequently for batteries, will continue to grow.
