Nickel Demand Price Supply

On the nickel ore front, medium-to-high grade nickel ore prices in the Philippines held steady overall last week. The CIF transaction price for 1.3% grade stood in the range of US $48-50/wmt. Sea freight rates rose slightly by US $0.5/wmt, lifting landed costs modestly. For domestic nickel ore in Indonesia, the price of 1.4% grade is expected to between US $58/wmt and US $60/wmt, and the market is waiting for the announcement of the premium policy in June.Last week, the nickel sulfate market maintained a stable-to-stronger pattern, with battery-grade prices holding steady near Yuan 32,000/tonne as of May 29, supported by solid cost floors and constrained supply. On the supply side, tight nickel ore quotas in Indonesia and persistently tight MHP supply showed no signs of easing, while high auxiliary material costs led some producers to continue production cuts or maintenance, keeping overall supply increases limited.
