The divergence in premiums between high-grade and low-grade Indonesian domestic nickel ore remained significant. The CIF reference price for Philippine 1.3% grade ore held steady at US $48-50/wmt, remaining weak but stable overall. Several nickel pig iron smelters had cleared their inventories or were actively selling forward. Indonesian NPI smelters had sold out their June orders and were no longer offering fixed prices. Some producers offered fixed prices for July orders at Yuan 1,175/mtu (including delivery and tax). Overall, available resources in the NPI market remained tight, and holders had strong confidence in holding firm on prices.Yesterday, the most-traded SHFE nickel 2607 contract closed down 1.04% at Yuan 133,980/tonne. Spot trading for refined nickel was generally acceptable. Trader inventory levels declined overall. After the crackdown on invoicing irregularities, the accumulation of spot material and tight liquidity that had affected some traders improved notably.
