NBS: China's Jan-May FAI drops 4%, property investment by 16% YoY

After the surprise 1.6% fall in China's fixed asset investment (FAI) for the January-April period, China’s FAI during the first five months of this year extended the decline, with the volume retreating by 4.1% on year to total Yuan 17.85 trillion ($2.64 trillion), according to the latest release from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 16.

Over January-May, tertiary industry still attracted the most funding among the three major economic sectors, though total investment in the sector recorded a 6.8% decline on year to reach Yuan 10.96 trillion, further expanding the 4.2% fall recorded during the January-April period. Meanwhile, investment growth for the primary and secondary industry sectors also slowed from 10.1% and 2.5%
