According to Mysteel, NPI production in China and Indonesia in June totaled 164,300 tonnes in Ni. content, down 1.08% month-on-month. Medium-to-high grade NPI production stood at 157,900 tonnes, down 1.32% month-on-month.
From January to June, the total NPI production in China and Indonesia reached 953,500 tonnes in Ni. content, down 8.39% year-on-year, of which medium-to-high grade NPI production was 919,100 tonnes in Ni. content, down 8.42% year-on-year.
In July, the estimated NPI production in China and Indonesia is projected at 165,100 tonnes in Ni. content, up 0.49% month-on-month; medium-to-high grade NPI production is projected at 158,700 tonnes in Ni. content, up 0.51% month-on-month.
China:
According to Mysteel, the NPI production in China in June stood at 28,100 tonnes in Ni. content, up 2.97% month-on-month. Medium-to-high grade NPI production stood at 21,700 tonnes in Ni. content, up 2.28% month-on-month; low-grade NPI production stood at 6,400 tonnes in Ni. content, up 5.35% month-on-month. From January to June, the total NPI production in China reached 144,500 tonnes in Ni. content, up 4.76% year-on-year, of which medium-to-high grade NPI production was 110,200 tonnes in Ni. content, up 9.23% year-on-year.
Looking ahead to July, the estimated NPI production in China is projected at 28,100 tonnes in Ni. content, up 0.05% month-on-month. Medium-to-high grade NPI production is projected at 21,700 tonnes in Ni. content, flat month-on-month; low-grade NPI production is projected at 6,400 tonnes in Ni. content, up 0.20% month-on-month.
Indonesia:
Based on Mysteel's sample of 58 nickel smelting projects in Indonesia in June, the total number of BF/EF/RKEF production lines in operation stood at 274, with no new additions during the month. Actual NPI production in Indonesia in June 2026 stood at 136,200 tonnes in Ni. content, down 1.87% month-on-month. From January to June, the total NPI production in Indonesia reached 808,900 tonnes in Ni. content, down 10.40% year-on-year.
The estimated NPI production in Indonesia is projected at 137,000 tonnes in Ni. Content in July, up 0.59% month-on-month.
