Recently, the Weifang Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau of Shandong Province published the public notice for the acceptance review of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for Weifang Chuanghai New Materials Co., Ltd.'s 50,000-Tonne Lithium Battery Material Resource Recycling Project.
According to the disclosure, Phase I of the 50,000-tonne lithium battery material project by Weifang Chuanghai New Materials Co., Ltd. is planned to be constructed within the existing plant premises of Shandong Changyi Haineng Chemicals Co., Ltd., located in the Changyi Longchi Chemical Industrial Park, Weifang, Shandong. The project involves demolishing the existing hardware warehouse and constructing new facilities totaling 9,000 square meters, including a production workshop, a comprehensive warehouse, a control room, and an electrical distribution room.
The production process will utilize spent lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery black mass as feedstock, subjecting it to a series of processes including acid leaching, filtration and impurity removal, iron phosphate synthesis, lithium precipitation and purification, and evaporation crystallization, to achieve comprehensive utilization of spent LFP battery black mass. Upon completion, the project is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 8,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate, 10,000 tonnes of anhydrous iron phosphate, and 32,000 tonnes of iron phosphate dihydrate.
The total estimated investment for the project is Yuan 1.011 billion, of which Yuan 1 million is allocated for environmental protection measures, accounting for 0.1% of the total investment. The construction period is estimated at 6 months.
