Recently, CATL and Solarpro, a leading renewable energy company in Eastern Europe, signed a cooperation agreement for a 2 GWh sodium-ion battery energy storage project utilizing CATL's "Tianheng" sodium-ion battery system. The two parties plan to jointly deploy the first large-scale sodium-ion battery energy storage project in Central and Eastern Europe within this year, marking a significant step toward accelerating the full-scale adoption of next-generation energy storage technologies across Europe.
The CATL "Tianheng" sodium-ion battery energy storage system adopted in this collaboration features an ultra-long cycle life of up to 15,000 cycles, enabling stable operation for 25 to 30 years. In addition, it exhibits exceptional low-temperature performance, with a capacity retention rate of up to 92% at -20°C, making it ideally suited to withstand the harsh winter conditions in Eastern European countries such as Lithuania, where temperatures can drop as low as -15°C to -20°C.
