According to Mysteel, starting from July 22, the Indonesian government, from the perspective of "protecting rare earth resources, safeguarding national security and social public interests," has been conducting inspections through DSI (the state-owned export enterprise) on the rare earth content in LS certificates submitted by agencies from various metal ore smelting industrial parks. The export commodities mainly involved are primary smelting products of metal ores, including alumina, blast furnace slag, nickel pig iron (NPI), and nickel intermediates (MHP). According to Mysteel's survey, the current rare earth metal-related standards and local inspection technologies in Indonesia are not yet well-established, making it impossible to obtain LS certificates recognised by the Indonesian government. This measure has hindered the export progress of primary smelting products of metal ores scheduled for shipment from various industrial parks in Indonesia, with all related cargo shipments delayed for an undetermined duration.
