FLASH: Indonesia's rare earth export inspection policy enters transitional period

According to Mysteel's survey, since the Indonesian government initiated rare earth content inspections on exports of primary smelting products of metal ores (including NPI and nickel intermediates, etc.) on July 22, policy implementation has entered a transitional period. To date, the Indonesian government has not yet designated officially recognised rare earth element inspection agencies, and various industrial parks are actively negotiating with customs authorities regarding the specific implementation of the inspection policy. During this period, customs authorities at some parks have allowed companies to submit export applications using LS certificates that include rare earth element inspection results, and have released the corresponding cargoes. Shipments of NPI, MHP and other products, which had been widely delayed, have begun to resume at some parks. However, the final regulations on the definition of rare earth elements and the inspection standards for export products remain to be closely monitored.
