UPDATE: Japan formalizes provisional ADs on Korean, Chinese HDG imports

Japan's ministries of economy, trade and industry (METI) and of finance on Tuesday announced that provisional anti-dumping (AD) tariffs on imports of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) steel sheet and strip from South Korea and China will be formally applied from August 8 and remain in place until December 7.

Significantly, the provisional penalties are smaller than those the ministries were eyeing two weeks earlier on July 24, as Mysteel Global reported. The AD tax rates are 29.2~38% on South Korean HDG and in the range of 50.1%~55.3% on China-origin. This compares with a range of 34.22%~42.69% on Korean imports
