The facility went from groundbreaking to full-scale production in just 16 months, with a designed annual capacity of 50 GWh, all dedicated to the production of the third-generation utility-scale energy storage product, Megapack 3. Tesla's energy business has high hopes for the factory, aiming to accelerate global grid-scale energy storage deployment.
The Brookshire facility becomes Tesla's third operational Megafactory globally and the second within the United States, joining the Lathrop, California Megafactory (40 GWh) and the Shanghai Megafactory (20 GWh), which have been in operation previously. At its designed full capacity, the Texas factory will surpass the combined capacity of the two existing Megafactories.
