FLASH: Explosive attack halts Cerrejon's coal rail operations

Coal rail operations at Cerrejon Colombia's largest coal mine and a Glencore asset were suspended after an explosive attack damaged the company's railway infrastructure on August 13, Reuters reported.

The blast occurred at about 12:14 a.m. local time at kilometer 125 of the company's 150-km railway in La Guajira Department, northern Colombia. Cerrejón said no injuries were reported and that the incident was immediately reported to authorities, who are conducting security checks and site inspections.
