Robust China demand sends South Africa's chrome ore exports soaring in July

South Africa exported 2.65 million tonnes of chrome ore in July, up 10.3% month on month and marking a sharp rise of 19.5% year on year, the latest South African Revenue Service (SARS) data show.
China retained its position as the dominant buyer in July, purchasing 1.78 million tonnes – a 9.6% rise from June and a substantial 94.9% surge from July last year.   Mozambique followed with 159,224 tonnes, recording a marked 15.1% on-month increase, though this represented a precipitous 80.1% on-year decline.
