NPI output in China, Indonesia rises MoM in August

Combined production of nickel pig iron (NPI) in China and Indonesia rose 4.5% on month to 174,500 tonnes (nickel contained) in August, according to the most recent Mysteel survey results.

The survey covered 10 Chinese smelters and 55 NPI smelting projects in Indonesia, of which 95% are Chinese-invested. Of the total, output of medium- and high-grade NPI reached 168,300 tonnes of Ni content, up 4.6% from July. Indonesia-based producers accounted for all of the output increase last month.
