China's Aug PX imports up 15.34% MoM, but plunge 33% YoY

China's August PX imports increased on a month-on-month comparison, thanks to restarts of some foreign PX units and improvement of domestic demand. However, on a year-on-year comparison, the imports plunged, as the geopolitical conflicts resulted in disruption in the Asian PX supply.

China imported 591,200 tonnes of paraxylene (PX) in August, up by 78,600 tonnes or 15.34% month-on-month, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of PRC (GACC). However, the August imports plunged by 32.51% year-on-year, and the total imports during January-August fell by 553,000 tonnes or 8.98% year-on-year
