China's methanol prices refresh five-year high on import supply gap

China's methanol spot prices in some areas climbed again after the National Day holiday (October 1-7) and refreshed a five-year high due to the persistent import supply gap that has kept overall market availability tight.

As of October 9, methanol spot prices in major regions posted significant gains. Taicang methanol spot prices closed at Yuan 4,832/t, up 32.93% from the year's second-highest point. Ordos North Line spot prices closed at Yuan 3,970/t, a surge of 44.23%, and Dongying spot prices closed at Yuan 4,180/t,
