Leading Chinese polysilicon producers agreed at a closed-door meeting in Hangzhou in East China's Zhejiang province on October 11 2026 that the average cost price of polysilicon, and the corresponding selling price, must not fall below Yuan 43,000/tonne including VAT, a company source told Cailian Press. The floor covers both the Siemens process and granular silicon, and equates to about $6,425/t at the October 12 exchange rate; the delivery term was not disclosed.
The same source said the figure represents a true cost line that includes industrial silicon, electricity, depreciation and labour.
Cailian Press reported the agreement on October 13 2026. It follows a pledge signed in Shanghai in August by eight domestic polysilicon makers, committing that all PV product prices – including tender bids – would not fall below costs calculated under a group standard on PV cost-accounting models.
