Shenhua lifts Sept steam coal output while sales ease as summer fades

China Shenhua Energy Company Limited, the major listed mining and power arm of the state-owned China Energy Investment Corporation, raised output of saleable thermal coal last month from August, though its sales volume slipped on month as the peak summer shipping season wound down, according to its September operating announcement filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange on October 14.

Last month, China Shenhua produced 44.5 million tonnes of saleable coal, up 0.9% from August and 3.2% higher than in September last year, with the modest output gain tracking firmer coal burn at its affiliated coal-fired power plants after summer's heatwaves. China Shenhua's own power business reflected the seasonal swing.
