On October 28, the Jieshou Municipal People's Government issued the initial public disclosure of environmental impact assessment (EIA) information for Anhui Chengtai Energy's comprehensive utilization project with an annual treatment capacity of 50,000 tonnes of spent new energy power lithium-ion batteries.
The project covers a total area of approximately 60 mu (about 4 hectares) and a total gross floor area of approximately 23,500 square meters. A production facility will be newly built with a processing capacity of 40 kt/a of spent lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and 10 kt/a of spent ternary lithium-ion batteries. The main construction contents include battery warehouses, a battery pack dismantling workshop, a discharging workshop, a dry-process workshop, a wet-process workshop, No. 1 and No. 2 integrated warehouses, and a wastewater treatment station. Four automatic battery crushing lines, physical separation equipment, and evaporation-crystallization-drying units will be purchased, together with supporting environmental protection facilities such as wastewater treatment units.
The total project investment is Yuan 250 million, including fixed asset investment of Yuan 150 million. After the project is completed and reaches full production, it will have a production capacity focused on ternary lithium battery black mass, LFP battery black mass, and lithium carbonate, supplemented by valuable by-products such as copper, aluminum, and sodium sulfate.
