WEEKLY: China's rebar output grows further, pace slows

Rebar production among the 137 Chinese steelmakers regularly sampled by Mysteel nationwide increased for the third straight week over June 29-July 5 to reach 2.77 million tonnes, though the pace slowed to a small 0.3% or 6,900 tonnes on week, the latest survey data show. During the prior week, output among the sampled mills had risen by 1.2%.

Survey respondents attributed the slower pace of output growth to the fact that some blast-furnace mills had trimmed their rebar production during the survey period. Rebar output during the survey week among steel producers in North China's Shanxi, Southwest China's Sichuan and Northeast China's Jilin provinces rose significantly on week.
