WEEKLY: China's rebar output falls further to 11-mth low

Rebar production among the 137 Chinese steelmakers under Mysteel's tracking declined for a second week over December 28 2023-January 3, down another 3% or 76,500 tonnes on week to hit an 11-month low of 2.44 million tonnes, according to the latest production survey. This result was also lower by 1.4% than in the same period last year, it notes.

Behind the continuous fall in domestic rebar output was the fact that more steel mills across the country suspended operations on their rolling lines, and some mills conducted maintenance stoppages on blast furnaces, survey respondents said.
