WEEKLY: PLV coal price catches up on ex-China inquiries

Mysteel’s price assessment for the premium low-volatile (PLV) hard coking coal had been catching up with that of the premium medium-volatile (PMV) hard coking coal by having surged by $14.25/tonne on week to a 2.5-month high of $129.25/t CFR North China on January 15, mainly thanks to the robust inquiries from the other importing countries for the Australian PLV coal, the key reference for Mysteel’s PLV coking coal price assessment.

It was the first time since last November for the PLV price increment to have outpaced that of Mysteel’s premium medium-volatile (PMV) hard coking coal, and in comparison, Mysteel’s assessment of the PMV coal rose by merely $1.5/t on week to a new high of $213.5/t CFR North China
