China's Henan targets steel industry consolidation

The provincial government of Central China's Henan province wants to give development of the province's steel sector a boost and at the same time, lift growth in crude steel production closer to that of other provinces. The government has recently fleshed out plans revealed in January for the formation of a provincial steel group over the next two years whose combined assets will top Yuan 100 billion ($14.5 billion) and whose annual steel production capacity will exceed 20 million tonnes.
