MONTHLY: Downside risks linger in China's met coal market in Apr

The Chinese metallurgical coal market is expected to see a phased recovery through much of April amid the steady operations at steel mills and their tolerance to higher raw material costs. However, downside risks for the market may persist due to uncertainties surrounding the domestic steel market, Mysteel warns in its latest monthly report on the commodity.

As of April 7, Mysteel's assessment of the national composite coking coal price came in at Yuan 1,095.7/tonne ($150/t) including the 13% VAT, higher by Yuan 9.7/t from a month earlier. The uptrend for the coking coal market that started in late March will likely extend into the first half
