WEEKLY: China's thermal coal market outlook dims in off-season

The Chinese thermal coal market entered another downward track during May 6-9, mainly affected by the dim market outlook as downstream demand for the fossil fuel continued to soften in the current off-season.

On Friday, Mysteel's assessment of the benchmark 5,500 kcal/kg NAR coal registered another Yuan 5/tonne ($0.7/t) dip on day to Yuan 645/t, while prices of 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades reached Yuan 565/t and Yuan 500/t, also lower by Yuan 5/t, on a FOB northern ports basis
