WEEKLY: China's HRC export prices soften slightly, trades still subdued

Chinese export prices for commercial-grade hot-rolled coils (HRC) softened slightly during August 30-September 5, while overseas buying of China-origin coils remained tepid, Mysteel's weekly market roundup shows.
Earlier in the week, mainstream offers from Chinese mills stood around $470-474/tonne FOB, lower by $5-6/t from the previous week's offering price, while counter bids from overseas traders hovered below $470/t FOB.   By mid-week, offering prices from Chinese mills had firmed marginally to $475-480/t FOB, though transactions were generally limited.
