WEEKLY: China's thermal coal market to stay weak before mid-Dec

China's portside thermal coal market continued to fall last week (December 1-5), amid the weak supply-demand fundamentals charactered by swelling inventories and continuous trading standoff.

As of December 5, Mysteel's assessment for the benchmark 5,500 kcal/kg thermal coal at China's northern ports reached Yuan 796/tonne ($112.6/t), down Yuan 25/t from a week ago. The assessments for 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades reached Yuan 697/t and Yuan 596/t, down Yuan 24/t and Yuan
