DAILY: China's thermal coal prices face renewed downward pressure

China's thermal coal market remained sluggish on March 6, with sparse buying interest dragging bidding prices lower even as most sellers resisted steep discounts amid still-high seaborne coal prices.

On Friday, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at Yuan 748/tonne ($108.4) FOB northern ports with VAT, down Yuan 1/t from a day ago, while 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades fell Yuan 2/t each to Yuan 669/t and Yuan 578/t, respectively. Spot quotations at northern ports showed
