On December 11, the price of electrolytic cobalt surged Yuan 11,889/tonne to Yuan 410,444-412,000/tonne from the previous trading day. In addition, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride both remained stable at Yuan 90,000/t-93,000/t and 105,000-110,000/tonne respectively. After downstream buyers completed high-priced purchases, the market has entered another period of relative calm. Low-priced old inventory is scarce, and overall market prices have gradually increased. New cobalt sulfate offers have risen to above Yuan 90,000/t, but downstream demand appears somewhat weak, resulting in cobalt sulfate being nominally priced but with thin actual trading. As of now, no cobalt raw materials have been shipped out of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and raw material supply remains tight. Upward momentum for cobalt sulfate persists, and it is expected to maintain stable operations in the near term.
