Russia further extends MET deadline for coal firms to end-Feb

The Russian government has further deferred the mineral extraction tax (MET) and insurance contributions for all coal companies until February 28, 2026, in a bid to relieve the hefty financial pressures facing most coal miners, according to a recent decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Also, until the same date, coal companies will not be subject to penalties for tax debts and insurance premium arrears, provided that bankruptcy proceedings have not been initiated against debtor organizations.
