WEEKLY: China's met coke stocks grow on weaker demand

The combined metallurgical coke inventories held by independent coke producers under Mysteel's nationwide survey climbed last week as heavy air pollution alerts issued by several Chinese cities curbed operations at local steel mills' sintering facilities and blast furnaces (BFs) and thereby subdued their demand for coke feed.

As of December 18, met coke stocks among the 230 surveyed coke producers reached 519,000 tonnes, up by 3.6% from the previous week and marking the highest level since mid-July, according to Mysteel's latest tracking data.
