DAILY: China's thermal coal falls further under rising inventory pressure

China's thermal coal market fell further on December 23 as inventories at northern ports continued to build, sapping confidence among market participants.

On Tuesday, Mysteel's assessment for the benchmark 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal dropped Yuan 7/tonne ($1/t) on day to Yuan 701/t, FOB northern ports with VAT, almost hitting the Yuan-700/t threshold that insiders viewed as a bottom level. The 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades each fell Yuan
