WEEKLY: Bearishness prevails in China's coking coal market

China's coking coal market extended its weak performance during the past week, with bearish sentiment prevailing among market participants despite that slowed mining operations tightening domestic supplies of this steelmaking raw material.

Some miners reduced or even halted coal production last week after meeting their annual output goals for 2025 while awaiting new quotas for the upcoming new year. As such, the combined daily raw coal output of the 523 Chinese coking coal mines under Mysteel's survey dropped a larger 5.44%
