On January 4, the price of electrolytic cobalt moved up Yuan 1,000/tonne to Yuan 464,100-467,111/tonne from the previous trading day. Moreover, the prices of cobalt chloride and cobalt sulfate both remained unchanged at 110,000-116,000/t and 90,500/t-95,500/t individually.Recently, trading activity in the cobalt sulfate market has been subdued. Currently in a seasonal demand off-season, downstream procurement has turned cautious, with a focus on destocking. However, raw material supply remains persistently tight, and prices remain elevated, putting significant cost pressure on cobalt sulfate smelters. As a result, offers remained firm, with new cobalt sulfate generally quoted around Yuan 95,000/tonne. The price gap between cobalt sulfate produced from different raw materials has narrowed, although actual transactions remain limited.
