On January 5, the price of electrolytic cobalt declined Yuan 6,884/tonne to Yuan 457,333-460,111/tonne from the previous trading day. In addition, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride moved up Yuan 500/t and 1,000/t respectively to 91,000/t-96,000/t and 112,000-116,000/t individually.Trading activity in the cobalt sulfate market continued to be subdued. Due to the seasonal demand off-season, downstream procurement has become more cautious, with a focus on digesting existing inventories. However, raw material supply remains tight, and prices continue to stay high, putting significant cost pressure on cobalt sulfate smelters. Therefore, their quotations remained firm, with new cobalt sulfate generally priced around Yuan 95,000/t. The price gap between cobalt sulfate produced from different raw materials has narrowed, but actual transactions are limited.
