Indonesian thermal coal prices extended their upward trend recently, backed by revived buying interest from China and growing concerns over future supply tightness, market sources said.

Mysteel's assessment for Indonesian 3,800 kcal/kg NAR coal rose to $49/tonne on January 12, extending upticks for over two weeks and notching a new high since December 2 last year.
